Raunchy Ramble: Positions

I woke just after 9AM  to the sound of the water cascading in the distance. Damn him for disrupting my Saturday morning routine.

I brewed myself some tea and sat down at my computer. Bleary-eyed, I powered up and set about my plans for the day, the pressures in the run-up to Christmas are all stacking up now. Slow but sure, I told myself, slow and steady wins the race.

I like to do that sometimes. In fact, I like to do that a lot. In order to succeed, I like to take a deep breath, close my eyes and imagine what it will look like once I have succeeded. The home is tidy, my blog is going nicely, I look healthy. Yes, imagining the bigger picture helps me to focus on the smaller goals in the here and now.

Lost in a dream of what it would be to achieve success, I heard the door creak open.

“They’ve just been playing Ariana Grande’s latest song on the radio” he said casually, “I was listening to it in the shower.”

“Mmhmm, it’s called ‘Positions’. It’s about being innocent one day and less so on the next, it might be your thing.”

That swine! The look he gave me, I knew exactly what he was implying. Innocent in the public eye, not quite so innocent for him. A part of me wanted to launch myself at him and taste his freshly showered flesh. Oh, I’d show him alright, how dare he think he could get away with tormenting me?

As it stands, I liked ‘Dangerous Woman’, but that had to do more with being a smitten kitten than it did to do with anything else. I know of Ariana Grande, but I couldn’t class myself as a fan. I’m a little out of her typical demographic.

Yet, I’ve found myself listening to ‘Positions’ at least eight times since, and it’s rather catchy, and fitting.

Today, I’ll be playing the daughter-in-law and the housewife, the nice lady, the lady who runs and cleans the home and entertains her evening guests while talking about charity shops. Next Friday, all of that changes once more.
