As the long nights draw in, what does your winter look like? It’s TMI Tuesday.

It’s that time of the week again Twisties, who’s back for another round of TMI Tuesday?

What Is TMI Tuesday?

TMI Tuesday is a series of questions generated by TMI Tuesday Blog. It is a great way to meet other bloggers and to share some personal thoughts and experiences. It is important to remember that there are no right or wrong answers to these questions, only the answers of the author –  and that’s part of what makes this tag so awesome!

How To Play TMI Tuesday

Send Me Your Questions!

Do you have something you’ve been itching to ask? Maybe something food-related, something a little bit kinky or something completely random? Have fun with it, then be sure to check back next Tuesday for my answer!

1. Traditions. We all have them. Some good and, well, some not so good. Think for a minute. When you were a kid, what were your holiday traditions? Do you still follow some of them today?

I always used to gather with my family and yes, 100%. When I was young, Christmas day used to be quite a big family gathering with my uncle (Mum’s brother), aunt, two cousins, both Nans and one of my Grandads (the other would rather go to the pub!). Then my family had a kind of falling out and it was just my immediate family and my grandparents, and now it’s just my family, Matt and Matt’s Dad. I’m not sure if my other uncle (Dad’s brother, just to confuse things!) and his family might join us this year but I’m kind of hoping they do. They’re a pretty awesome bunch, but then, you’d need to be a bit mad to fit in with my mad family!

2. How would you describe this stage of your life?

Curious, exciting. We’ll leave it there for the moment.

3. What is next for you?

Ah, ah… all in good time, my friends. All in good time… 😉

4. What will you do this month to nourish you?

Now that Guy Fawkes night is out the way, I kind of fall into embracing winter so for me, that’s Christmas crafts and good ol’ hygge. I’m talking cosy, cute, fluffy jumpers, scented candles, fluffy blankets and the like. Also, living in the Northern hemisphere, I take supplemental vitamin D at this time of year and do light therapy every day for my seasonal depression, as well as making sure to spend lots of time with my family, oh, and I recently add aromatherapy to all of that, too. Orange and cinnamon in my essential oil diffuser is the current favourite, and it’s absolutely perfect as a room fragrance when I entertain.

I’m now also thinking I need to spoil myself to a Woodwick candle. I keep meaning to buy one…

5. Are you participating in Movember?

Yes and no. No, because I don’t believe in getting in on a trend, but also yes, because men’s’ health is extremely important to me. Yes in the way that I concern myself with men’s’ health all year around, not just for Movember. I know three men (one a close relative) who have attempted to take their own lives, so for me, male suicide is something that I take extremely seriously. I was once called in as something of a negotiator when my neighbour slit his wrists (superficial damage, fortunately) and refused to talk to anyone except his friend or me, and I was geographically closer, so I had a knock on my door and then ended up talking to my neighbour about everything going on while being surrounded by armed police. You don’t forget a day like that very easily…

For the record, he’s in a much better place now and he’s also Dad to a little girl.

Bonus: What is your motto in life?

Carpe diem. I’ve written more about that here.

That’s it from me for this TMI Tuesday! Join me next week for the next round! Do you have any questions for me for next week? Don’t forget to leave them in the comments below!

Until next time,

Stay safe & have fun,

Helen xx
