And now, let’s begin…

Day 28: What is on your music playlist right now?

First of all, full disclosure, the music that I listen to is old! I’m not someone who follows the charts and what I listen to usually reflects the mood that I’m in. With that said, here’s the top eight on my list right now.

1. Shania Twain – I’m Gonna Getcha Good!

This song just oozes Shania’s glamourous confidence, and honestly, I’m all for it. I think my confidence has had a bit of a knock in recent times, but this one is helping me get back to it again. Shania has some real belters, and this is one of them.

2. 5ive – Keep On Movin’

I’ve been through some tough times lately, but this one has got me through. It reminds me of some wild nights out at Pop World with my best friends, which I’d happily relive if I could just stay awake until 3AM again. Plus, I low key used to have a crush on Abs Breen, right up until he became Abz Luv…

3. Camila Cabello – Liar

This song has been so fitting over the past few months. It conveys perfectly the emotions of being in love with someone that you know is possibly no good for you, but that you struggle to say no to. It’s full of lust, dreaming and hope, but also the frustration and helplessness of being in that relationship, all set off with a Latin pop twist.

4. Shawn Mendes ft Camila Cabello – Senorita

I’m not going to go fully into my reasons for this one because it’s a bit painful for me, but they are there. It talks of two friends that have a connection that is wrong and forbidden, but is hot and intense nonetheless. The video is probably as hot at the song!

5. Tones & I – Dance Monkey

You know that really annoying song that you don’t want to love, but gets stuck in your head and you sort of end up loving anyway? That’s “Dance Monkey” for me. It’s energetic, repetitive and very easy to move to, which is very dangerous for someone who is prone to earworms!

6. Britney Spears – Circus

Ahh yes, my theme tune. Right from the start, this song has a sort of ‘meness’ to it. In this song Britney talks about being the centre of attention, as a performer. Whilst I’m no entertainer, I’m used to being the centre of attention in other ways, for example, I’m used to people looking at me and thinking that I won’t succeed, but then I do, and what’s more I completely blow their expectations of me when I do! Also, the lyric “I’m like a firecracker, I’ll make it hot” kind of owns up to the fact that some people find my confidence sexy.

7. Sia – Unstoppable

Ahh, feels, literal feels. This song really shows what it’s like to be a strong, modern woman. With lyrics like “it’s never the right time”, it reminds me of how often I’ve tried to open up to loved ones about my stresses, only for someone or something to distract that time. We put on an “armour” to stand up to the world, despite still being soft and delicate women underneath it all.

“Only alone I will cry out now” – yep, felt that one too…

8. Steps – It’s The Way You Make Me Feel

I can’t believe I’m writing this list with this serious 90’s cheesefest on here, but here we are. Love makes us do funny things, and when I first fell for my husband, I used to find myself singing this song, a lot. Matt dated a couple of other women before we got together, and this stems back to one of those times when I was watching on the sidelines, in love with my friend. I can remember a walk along the river, singing this under my breath. It all panned out well in the end though and Matt and I celebrated being together for 15 years at the start of the month!

That’s it from me for today Twisties! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for my next Bloganuary post!

Until next time,

Stay safe & have fun,

Helen xx
