What Is TMI Tuesday?

TMI Tuesday is a series of questions generated by TMI Tuesday Blog. It is a great way to meet other bloggers and to share some personal thoughts and experiences. It is important to remember that there are no right or wrong answers to these questions, only the answers of the author –  and that’s part of what makes this tag so awesome!

How To Play TMI Tuesday

Send Me Your Questions!

Do you have something you’ve been itching to ask? Maybe something food-related, something a little bit kinky or something completely random? Let me hear it in the comments below. Have fun with it, then be sure to check back next Tuesday for my answer!

And now, onto the questions…

1. Do you prefer:
a. Parties
b. Intimate get-togethers
c. Playdates
d. None of the above; they’re all overrated

B. I think it was a realisation I had during lockdown, when we in the UK could only gather with a maximum of six people and so a gathering for me was my Mum, my brother, Matt’s Dad, Matt and me. It just made me realise what really matters and I still had an amazing time with just the five of us. As hard as it is to admit, I think Mum has relaxed since Dad’s passing and for the most part, she and I get along much better now. We’re all able to talk and laugh and share and we love hosting dinner parties for each other. Actually, I’m already looking forward to hosting a Morrocan-themed night next month, for my birthday.

2. What is your preferred bedtime?
a. What’s a bedtime?
b. Between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
c. Early to bed early to rise
d. Late night party animal and/or insomniac

D. Bedtime is usually around 12:30AM for us. 10PM is far too early!

Late nights and early mornings are never a good mix!

3. Do you and your significant other go to bed at the same time?

We try to, but it doesn’t always happen. Last night for example, I wrote a ramble really late so I was up unttil 2:30AM (yes, I’m feeling it today!) finishing it. On Saturdays Matt watches the football, then he quite often watches a bit of WWE afterwards and passes out on the sofa. That’s his downtime, that’s how he relaxes after a busy week and I’d much rather he passes out on the couch than does what my brother did and conks out on a bus stop somewhere nobody knows where to find him. Matt never gets blackout drunk but he admits that beer makes him relaxed – perhaps even a bit too relaxed! Still, he wakes up and comes to bed at about 4AM then he’s up right as rain to help with the housework on a Sunday. It doesn’t bother me like it used to. Now, I just know I’ll have the bed to myself on a Saturday 😉

4. Do you compliment your significant other? How often? Do they return the return the gesture?

Yes, but I think you can be overly sweet and it has to be authentic. There are love languages, and neither Matt nor I have words of affirmation as a love language, so we don’t usually use them. I can’t really put a frequency on it. Maybe omce or twice a week? Maybe a bit more now I think about it, but it’s usually stuff like “you’ve done it again with the roast potatoes” not “your roast potatoes are amazing”. He knows what I mean, and if I started using words and phrases like ‘amazing’ or ‘the best’, he’ll probably want to know what I’m after!

Nobody does a Sunday roast like Matt does a Sunday roast

5. Do you and your significant other share:
a. More hobbies together than not
b. Less hobbies in common compared to all your hobbies
c. All hobbies– we like and do the same things
d. Nothing at all. We enjoy completely different hobbies.

I think A, but I think we’ve started to take an interest in one another’s hobbies, which obviously is really healthy. For example football – when we first started dating my attitude was a bit like “for fuck’s sake, why does he even watch this stupid sport?!” but now I’ll watch it a bit and even comment on good goals, bad tackles etc. I’ve mastered the offside rule, which I think narrowly made Matt want to jump my bones, and I had so much fun goading him over the fact that the England women’s squad brouight the EUFA cup home while the men’s squad just never quite managed it. Also, I never used to be one for pubs and clubs, but thanks to Matt I started to learn to relax and enjoy a social gathering in a pub, and even getting food in public. We don’t agree on other things though, like Matt still doesn’t like fishing and I still can’t get him into stargazing. He’ll watch the showjumping with me though (did you know your girl is a former equestrian? 😉 ), and he’s not afraid to pick up a hammer or a screwdriver – if indeed I’ll let him!

As an aside, I’ve also gotten greener for having Bill in my life, and I’m perhaps a lot more passionate about my garden than what I used to be, too. We talk about greener living quite a bit, and even if I used to be fairly dilligent about things like recycling, Bill still introduces me to other changes that I can make. In fact, thanks to Bill, I’m trialling the Ecoegg as we speak!

Heaven or hell? I think it depends!

Bonus: Do you go walking on a regular basis with your significant other? Research says doing this activity together brings you closer.

Ack, when did my Mum get to write the TMI Tuesday questions?! We have a woodland walk near us, and we keep meaning to go up there much more than what we currently do, and my Mum gets on at me about it because “walking is good for you”. I know Mum, I know, but so is a clean home, money, sensible dinner times, relaxation and personal hygiene. When one thing gets thrown off kilter, everything else struggles, believe me.

Besides, it’s supposed to be thunderstorms here today. Now I don’t know about you, but surrounded by trees is the very last place I want to be if it does!

That’s it from me for this TMI Tuesday! Join me next week for the next round. Do you have any questions for me for next week? Don’t forget to join in on my Digital Birthday Bash!

Until next time!

Stay safe & have fun,

Helen xx

  1. “…what my brother did and conks out on a bus stop somewhere nobody knows where to find him.” Oh my goodness!!

“Ack, when did my Mum get to write the TMI Tuesday questions?!” 😀 😀

    1. It was a bit like that! He was found on a bus stop close to the river too, fortunately by someone decent who offered him help!
